Spend a Day with Us

You wake up to the dawn of a beautiful day. Your heart beats with anticipation for a great fishing trip. You know you won't be disappointed because you've chosen West Coast River Charters.

You enjoy a light breakfast and a cup of coffee before we pick you up at 7 am.* After checking to make sure you brought along your fishing license and a light lunch, we leave for the dock where your boat and a great day of fishing awaits you.

We meander through the breath-taking scenery of the mighty Somass River to arrive at our first spot around 8 am and setup our gear. Within 15 minutes your float disappears with the sign of your first strike of the day.

You feel the grip on your rod tighten and the adrenaline rush through your body. You are ready for the fight that's about to begin.

Time seems to stand still as you enter into this epic battle. Your rod tip continues to dance violently with this magnificent fighter, as it demands more line. Giving it room to run, you hold the rod with stately might, await your time hoping that you won't lose this prize.

After what seemed like an eternal tug-a-war, this princely steelhead finally bows his head and enters your net. You gaze in amazement at this beautiful fish and realize that it, being a wild steelhead, must be returned to its watery domain. Just as well, it deserves to see more battles.

That was just the beginning. Before the end of this trip, we would have visited another 3 hotspots, and caught & released 5 more gorgeous wild steelheads. We also brought in a hatchery steelhead to keep, and another salmon to boot.

There was also plenty of time to take in the magnificent scenery and the amazing wildlife that calls this place home.

Before you realize it, it is already 1 pm - time to head back. By the time we dock and have your fish cleaned & bagged for you, it is nearly 2 pm. After settling your account, we drop you off at your lodging where you proudly show-off your catch before sending it into the motel's special ice storage.

It was a glorious trip -- You'll will never forget it. And you can't wait to come again to take in that glorious scenery and battle once more those magnificent steelheads.

*Time of charter departure and return varies with season: Summer -- 5am to 12pm. Fall -- 6 am to 1 pm, and from 2pm to 8pm. Winter -- 7am to 2 pm.
